Serious crash closes westbound lane of I-90 in Palmer
PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - One person has died following a two-vehicle crash on I-90 westbound in Palmer Tuesday night, according to Massachusetts State Police. The Palmer Fire Department stated that the westbound lane of I-90 was closed at mile marker 60.7 due to a serious motor vehicle crash. According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police Media Relations, at approximately 8:23 p.m., police were called to I-90W mile marker 60.7 in Palmer for a crash involving two vehicles. One person was found dead at the scene. MassDOT assisted with a full westbound closure at exit 63 in Palmer, officials stated. Earlier, the Palmer Fire Department reported that the westbound lane of I-90 was closed due to what was described as a serious motor vehicle crash. Drivers were urged to avoid the area, use caution, and seek alternate routes. Traffic began moving again in a limited capacity later in the evening. Authorities have not released the identity of the person who died. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by state police, including members of the Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS), and the district attorney’s office.
