Santa Fe Police investigating early morning fatal crash
The Santa Fe Police Department is currently investigating an early morning fatal crash.According to officers, the crash occurred around 2:05 a.m. near the intersection of Agua Fria Street and Cottonwood Drive.When officers arrived at the scene, they located the driver of a vehicle and an injured pedestrian. The pedestrian was immediately transported by Santa Fe Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The release of pedestrian’s identity is pending notification of next of kin.The driver of the vehicle did not have any injuries and remained at the scene. Ana Reyes, 23, was identified at the driver and was observed to have signs of impairment and was suspected of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and drugs. A DUI investigation was conducted and Ms. Reyes was placed under arrest and charged with Homicide by Vehicle (Driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug). The Traffic Unit and the Crime Scene Unit were summoned to the scene to investigate and process the scene for evidence. The investigation remains active.
