Rollover crash on I-8 near I-15 causes traffic disruption

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A rollover crash on westbound Interstate 8 near Interstate 15 in the Grantville area caused major traffic disruptions Saturday morning. According to a Sig Alert from California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 8:18 a.m. on westbound I-8 at the I-15 interchange. CHP indicated that a vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its roof in the roadway. It was also reported that people were attempting to help the occupant out of the overturned vehicle. Authorities later confirmed the driver had successfully exited the vehicle. Officials noted that the crash involved two vehicles. The overturned vehicle was reported to be in the far right lane, while another disable vehicle was located near the right lane leading to the I-15 exit. CHP logs also noted that one of the vehicles had allegedly been traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving between lanes before the collision occurred. However, authorities have not yet confirmed whether speed was a contributing factor. It's unknown how many people were involved in the crash. The collision prompted a temporary freeway closure, backing up traffic on westbound I-8. According to CHP, all lanes have since reopened. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
