Pursuit in downtown St. Louis ends with suspect injured in crash
In downtown St. Louis, a man suffered severe injuries following an overnight collision during a police pursuit early Thursday. The crash occurred at 6th Street and Washington Avenue involving a silver Lincoln vehicle. The pursuit originated in Washington Park, Ill., at approximately 3 a.m., as authorities there sought to stop the Lincoln for suspected DUI and other traffic infractions. The chase continued into St. Louis, with the driver losing control and crashing into a traffic light pole and a MetroLink elevator structure. The vehicle caught fire, and the driver was left in critical condition, taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department deployed Accident Reconstruction and Force detectives to investigate the incident.
