Police investigating e-bike crash that killed boy in Pomona
A boy who was struck while riding his e-bike in Pomona last week has died, officials confirmed to KTLA. The tragic April 17 incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of South San Antonio Avenue, near the intersection of Patterson Street, according to the Pomona Police Department. Police said the boy was riding an e-bike on the sidewalk when he entered the roadway and was struck by a motorist. Responding officers immediately began life-saving measures before Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived and, along with a police escort, rushed the victim to Pomona Valley Hospital. The boy was later transferred to Children’s Hospital Orange County, where investigators said he succumbed to his injuries on April 19. His identity has not yet been released. Footage from the crash aftermath showed crowds of onlookers, some visibly upset, as officers performed CPR on the boy. Firefighters and paramedics were also seen placing him onto a stretcher and loading him into an ambulance. The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Pomona police. Authorities said it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision, and no arrests have been announced. The Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the case.
