Police investigate crash involving pedestrian in northeast Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A woman died after being hit by a vehicle in a northeast Albuquerque neighborhood on Wednesday, according to authorities. Officers responded to the 6200 block of Sonrisa Place, near Anaheim Avenue and San Pedro Drive, just before noon. At 2 p.m., APD stated a woman was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle. At about 5 p.m., APD confirmed the woman had died. Our News 13 Reporter Melissa Torres said the Office of the Medical Investigator was present at the scene this afternoon, along with a group of friends and relatives, who were clearly upset. Neighbors stated they knew something was wrong after hearing a fire truck siren. They also spotted a truck that appeared to have crashed into the garage of a home. Police have not said anything yet about who was driving the vehicle that hit the woman. People KRQE spoken with on the scene said the woman who was hit was in her 20s. She has not yet been identified. KRQE will update this article with new information as it becomes available.
