Police identify victim of fatal I-15 crash on Monday
MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4) — Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred on Monday, February 23. On Monday afternoon, the driver of a white Kia Forte rear-ended a box truck that was stopped on the right shoulder of southbound I-15 near 8200 S. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures on the Kia driver, and he was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, he later died as a result of his injuries. Police have since identified the Kia driver as 91-year-old Grant Smith Fairbanks, from Cottonwood Heights, Utah. The driver of the box truck was not injured. At this time, Utah Highway Patrol says that the crash is still under investigation and they have not released additional information at this time.
