Police: Bicyclist seriously hurt in Franklin crash

A teen bicyclist has died after being struck by an SUV in Franklin, Massachusetts, on Tuesday afternoon.The collision occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. in the area of 490 King St.According to Franklin police, officers responded to the scene and found a 15-year-old from Franklin suffering from serious injuries.The teen was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center where they were later pronounced dead.Their identity is not being released at this time. According to neighbors, the street is very busy and accidents happen often."It's hard, you do have to look hard and you have to wait, and no one's waiting anymore," said one neighbor.It's unclear if the driver of the SUV will face any charges.The off-ramp (Exit 41) from Route 495 northbound to King Street was closed to traffic while the scene was being processed. The roadway has since reopened."The Franklin Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic incident," the department wrote in a social media post.No further information was immediately available.
