Pitt County fatal crash: Driver charged with misdemeanor death

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) -- On July 3, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of County Home Road and Warren Jones Road in Pitt County. According to officials, the investigation determined that 33-year-old Jaime Santiago Corona of Ayden was traveling south on Warren Jones Road in a 2023 Dodge Ram pickup truck when he failed to stop at the stop sign for his direction of travel. Coronas' vehicle entered the intersection and struck a 2016 Chevrolet SUV traveling west on County Home Road. The SUV was driven by 35-year-old Kelli Toller, who had two children in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Jaime Santiago Corona was charged with misdemeanor death by Vehicle, Failure to stop for a Stop Sign, Careless and reckless Driving, Driving While License Revoked.
