Person killed, children hurt, in crash involving a school bus in New Hampshire
One person is dead after a crash involving a school bus and a pickup truck in Marlborough, New Hampshire on Friday morning. The crash happened at about 7:15 a.m. on Route 12.New Hampshire State Police confirmed the driver of the pickup truck died. About a dozen people on the bus were evaluated and treated for minor injuries. Some were taken to Cheshire Medical Center for further treatment.Authorities said none of the children on the bus were seriously injured. Pictures from the scene showed major damage to both vehicles.The Monadnock school superintendent confirmed the bus was carrying students from the Regional Middle-High School."We are aware of the bus accident that occurred on Route 12 involving students from Monadnock Regional Middle-High School," Superintendent Jeremy Rathbun said. "While we do not have more details, we are able to share that our students are safe, and we will be reaching out to their parents directly."Due to the number of injuries involved in the crash, firefighters declared a mass casualty incident, which brought in ambulances from Walpole, Winchester, Peterborough, Jaffrey, and Golden Cross.New Hampshire State Police said a section of Route 12 in the area of Webb Depot Road was expected to be closed for several hours. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
