Pennsylvania Turnpike lanes closed due to Cumberland County crash, two airlifted
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) - Two people were airlifted after a serious crash that closed 70 miles of lanes on the Pennsylvania Turnpike from Breezewood to Carlisle on Friday. According to the Turnpike, the crash occurred eastbound near mile marker 219.3, and two eastbound lanes are closed from Breezewood Exit #161 to Carlisle Exit #226. According to Pennsylvania State Police, four people are in serious condition after a passenger car struck a parked tractor-trailer combination. There were occupants entrapped in the passenger vehicle, and two people were airlifted from the scene. The westbound lanes have reopened after the medical helicopter departed. Drivers are being told to seek an alternate route due to "heavy delays" in the area.
