Pedestrian killed in southwest Las Vegas crash, driver arrested for DUI

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A pedestrian is dead, and police arrested a driver for DUI following a crash in the southwest Las Vegas valley, police said. The crash took place around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 at Decatur Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road. Evidence at the scene, witness statements, and surveillance video indicated that a 2013 Toyota RAV4 was driving south on Decatur, south of Spring Mountain, while a pedestrian, a 35-year-old man, was crossing Decatur from west to east outside of a marked crosswalk. The collision happened when the man crossed in front of the Toyota's path, and the front of the vehicle hit the man, projecting him onto the roadway before the Toyota ran him over. Medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the man, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, later identified as Victoria Truong, 27, stayed at the scene and showed signs of impairment. Police later arrested her on a misdemeanor charge of DUI. Court records show she was held at the Clark County Detention Center on a $2,000 bail and was expected to appear in court on June 27. The pedestrian's death marks the 49th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2026. Drivers were asked to avoid the area as the investigation was ongoing. All southbound lanes on Decatur Boulevard at Spring Mountain Road were closed, according to the RTC of Southern Nevada.
