Pedestrian hit and killed after crash on Morse Road

A person who walked away from a crash on Columbus’ Northeast Side early Monday was struck and killed by a passing car in a hit-skip on Morse Road, police said. The crash happened just after midnight at Morse Road and Sunbury Road. A person involved in car crash got out of the car they were driving and began walking away, heading south into the eastbound lanes of Morse Road east of Sunbury Road. At the same time, a black sedan was traveling eastbound on Morse Road past Sunbury Road and hit the adult, knocking them into the westbound left-turn lane. The sedan did not stop and keep driving on Morse Road out of the area. Columbus Fire rushed the victim to Riverside Methodist Hospital where they later died. Shortly after the crash, the driver of the sedan contacted Columbus Police Radio and reported their car was involved in the crash. A short time later, the driver of the sedan contacted and met with Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit detectives. The Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
