PCH closed in both directions after power pole crash in Malibu
A crash that damaged a power pole on Pacific Coast Highway has left the route closed in both directions through Malibu since early Monday morning. A SigAlert was issued for the portion of PCH near Paradise Cove just before 5 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Officials said a car collided with a power pole in what appeared to be a solo-vehicle crash. There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash or whether anyone was injured. Southern California Edison crews were called to the scene to repair the damaged lines, which could be seen in an image shared by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The emergency electrical work was expected to take 5 to 6 hours, Caltrans District 7 stated in a post at 9:17 a.m. Motorists were urged to find alternate routes.
