Police say pickup ran stop sign before fatal crash at Halfway Creek Road and Highway 41
Charleston Police are investigating a three vehicle collision that left one person dead and others injured Wednesday afternoon . The report on the incident states that the collision occurred approximately 2:30 p.m. when a pickup truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of Halfway Creek Road and Highway 41 and was struck by the 18-wheeler, who was traveling on Highway 41. The involved 18-wheeler then overturned and reportedly struck an SUV which was travelling in the opposite direction on Highway 41. Police state that the driver of the pickup truck died at the scene and the passenger was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. On Thursday the deceased driver was identified by the Berkeley County Coroner's Office as Floyd Rubino, a 71 year old from Hardeeville. Multiple other involved passengers and drivers were also transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The collision remains under active investigation and charges have yet to be filed.
