Part of Route 1 in Scarborough shut down in both directions due to crash
Scarborough officials say that a nearly mile-long stretch of Route 1 is closed in both directions due to a fatal crash.Scarborough police confirmed to Maine's Total Coverage that one person died in Tuesday's crash, which happened in the area of 51 U.S. Route 1. A Maine's Total Coverage photographer captured a picture from the crash scene that shows a car with heavy front-end damage near the entrance to Trask-Decrow Machinery.The Scarborough Police Department said the northbound and southbound sides of Route 1 have been shut down between Pleasant Hill Road and Green Acres Lane.Officials are asking people to avoid the area and advising drivers to seek an alternate route.Click here to check the WMTW traffic mapEarlier, the Scarborough Fire Department reported that a crash had shut down Pine Point Road between Ross Road and East Grand Avenue. That road closure has since been lifted.A Maine's Total Coverage photographer captured pictures of the Pine Point Road crash, which show a car went off the road and crashed into a tree.
