Paraglider dies from injuries suffered in crash near Mount Timpanogos
The paraglider rescued from Provo Canyon near Mount Timpanogos died from injuries, the Utah County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Monday. Rescue teams responded after the paraglider had called dispatch, reporting he had crashed into a narrow ravine on the north side of Provo Canyon and was "very badly injured." Officials described the area where he had crashed as "very steep and high up on the mountains." Two helicopters were deployed to aid in the search, while a third helicopter was staged and ready to transport the paraglider to a local hospital. "Despite the efforts of rescuers, the patient succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash," the Utah County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. The Utah County Sheriff's Office said its investigators and personnel from the Utah Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene for further investigation.
