Orange County resident posts videos of car accidents near his home to bring attention to the issue.

A man from Orange County has been sharing social media videos of car accidents occurring at the intersection near his home in Huntington Beach with the hope of prompting safety improvements. Craig McCoy, a resident in the area, has set up cameras outside his house which have captured numerous alarming collisions, including one that resulted in a motorcyclist's death in 2024. McCoy highlighted the dangers posed by the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Taylor Drive, where visibility is limited due to blind left turns. Following a recent incident involving a pickup truck and a car, McCoy stressed the urgent need for measures to enhance safety in the area. Despite acknowledging that drivers need to be more cautious, he believes that proactive actions can be taken to prevent further accidents. McCoy's concerns are supported by statistics from the Huntington Beach Police Department, which recorded 11 collisions resulting in injuries or fatalities in the past three years at the intersection. A study conducted by Caltrans in 2024 found that all accidents were caused by drivers violating traffic laws, such as speeding, failing to yield, and tailgating.
