One person critically injured in rollover accident
A major crash occurred in east Wichita on Saturday afternoon, resulting in one person sustaining critical injuries. The accident, which took place near the junction of Kansas Highway 96 and Webb Road around 2:20 p.m., involved a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2016 Honda Accord. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the Suburban, traveling behind the Accord, rear-ended the slower-moving vehicle when it abruptly changed lanes due to heavy traffic. The Suburban then lost control, rolled several times, and finally came to rest on its side. The 22-year-old driver of the Suburban, a Wichita resident, was transported to Wesley Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the Honda and two passengers were unharmed. Commuters were adviced to avoid the eastbound section of Kansas Highway 96 between Webb and Greenwich Road, but the stretch has since been reopened.
