One killed in fatal crash; alcohol is a suspected factor
One man was killed as a result of a crash that happened early morning Wednesday. At 2:43 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lancaster Post received a call of a one-vehicle crash, at Horns Mill Road near Raver Court in Berne Township, Fairfield County, OSHP said in a news release. A 2013 Fiat 500 was traveling north on Horns Mill Road, failed to negotiate a curve and travelled off the left side of the road. According to the news release, the vehicle then struck an embankment and overturned, ejecting the driver. The driver was identified as Ian James McCoy, 36, of Lancaster. He passed away at the hospital as a result of his injuries. Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor, and McCoy wasn't wearing a seatbelt, according to the news release from the OSHP. The crash remains under investigation.
