One killed at Palermo intersection where another accident happened earlier in the week

PALERMO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Another accident at a Palermo intersection has taken the life of an 80-year-old woman. This is the second accident there involving a tractor-trailer in the same week. On Monday, March 2, a similar situation happened -- a tractor-trailer ran a stop sign. However, no one was hurt in that crash. Many locals have spoken up to NewsChannel 9 and on social media about how that location has had a handful of incidents in the past. On Thursday, March 5, the Oswego County Sheriff's Office was sent to the intersection of County Route 4 and County Route 45 in the Town of Palermo, just after noon, for a two-vehicle accident. There, they found a 2000 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driving northbound on County Route 45, which went through a stop sign, entering the intersection and hitting a 2017 Chrysler minivan that was driving westbound on County Route 4. The driver of the minivan, who has now been identified as 80-year-old Suzanne Beyer, of Palermo, was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer was driven by a 62-year-old from Earlville. He was taken to Oswego Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, McFee Ambulance, New York State Department of Transportation, Mexico Volunteer Fire Department, and Palermo Volunteer Fire Department.
