One dead, two injured in motorcycle crash on I-55 in Normal
NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) -- One person is dead and two more were injured after two motorcycles crashed on Interstate 55 in Normal. Just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, Illinois State Police troopers responded to the crash near mile marker 166, said Trooper Shannon Barrea. She said a group of motorcycles was traveling north on I-55 when a bike towards the front had a mechanical failure and went down. It was also struck by a second bike. One biker was declared dead at the scene and two others were taken to the hospital with injuries. The interstate was closed at Main Street in Normal but all lanes were reopened at around 1:12 a.m. WMBD has reached out to the McLean County Coroner's Office and is awaiting a response.
