One dead, one injured after wrong-way crash on Hwy 411 in Maryville
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person is dead, and another was injured after a crash on Highway 411 South in Maryville. Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said the crash took place at 7:41 p.m. on Highway 411 South near Ridgeway Trail. He told 6 News that a 2009 Chevrolet Sedan veered into the center turn lane and hit a 2023 Kia sport utility traveling south in the left lane. The driver of the Chevrolet Sedan, a 29-year-old man, died following the crash, while the driver of the Kia, a 31-year-old woman, was taken to UT Medical Center for serious injuries. Dashcam video showing the crash shared with 6 News shows a vehicle going into the southbound lane and hitting another vehicle before appearing to stop near the center lane. Crisp said the investigation was still ongoing, and an accident reconstruction team was assisting.
