One dead in single-vehicle crash on I-71 North near Morse Road

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person has been pronounced dead after a one-vehicle crash in north Columbus. The crash occurred just south of Morse Road and caused Interstate 71 North to close over a four-hour period for several miles after a fatal crash occurred early Thursday morning just after 2 a.m. Police said one victim, 20-year-old Ashton Krick, was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. after officers responded to two crash notifications. The vehicle left the roadway and reportedly struck the base of a pedestrian walkway. Columbus police have yet to release additional details on what led to the crash, but I-71 north was closed for an eight-mile stretch between the I-670 interchange and State Route 161.
