One dead in early morning Blacklick area crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- One person has died and another is injured in a two-car crash early Thursday morning in the Blacklick area, authorities said. The crash occurred at 5:51 a.m. at the intersection of Havens Corners Road and North Waggoner Road, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said a black Acura TLX was traveling eastbound on Havens Corners Road while a black Honda Pilot was heading northbound on North Waggoner Road. The Honda struck the Acura in the intersection. Both cars veered off the northwest side of the intersection following the crash. The Acura struck a utility pole, breaking it. The pole then fell onto the Honda, bringing down live power lines, authorities said. Deputies and emergency crews from Jefferson Township responded to the scene. Utility crews shut off power to the lines after the crash. The driver of the Acura, who was the sole occupant of the car, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The drive of the Honda, also the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:55 a.m., according to medics. The crash remains under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
