One dead, five injured in crash near Glen Ullin

GLEN ULLIN, ND (KXNET) — A seven-year-old from New Salem has died in a crash that left five others seriously injured this morning. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), at 7:12 a.m. about 15 miles north of Glen Ullin, a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 35-year-old Beulah man was heading south on Highway 49 towards the intersection with 28th St. SW. At the same time, a Ford Escape driven by a 40-year-old woman from New Salem was heading west on 28th St. SW. Four kids were also in the car. The NDHP says the driver of the Escape reportedly ran a stop sign and was hit on the front passenger side by the Chevy. Both drivers and three of the passengers in the Escape were taken to Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck with serious injuries. A seven-year-old passenger in the Ford died at the scene. Highway 49 was closed for about one hour after the crash. According to the NDHP, the weather was foggy at the time. They are continuing to investigate.
