Oklahoma man sentenced for crash that killed significant other

An Oklahoma man was sentenced for causing an accident that killed his significant other in 2024. Investigators say that in March of 2024, 29-year-old Tyler Thompson consumed methamphetamine and marijuana to begin his day. Although he didn't have a valid driver's license, he told detectives that he usually only drove in neighborhoods. Officials say Thompson's significant other, Nancy Moore, drove them to her dentist appointment but couldn't drive afterward because she was under anesthesia. Authorities say Thompson purchased more marijuana and attempted to drive on a busy highway. On the way home, he failed to stop at a red light and hit the rear end of a tractor-trailer. Nancy Moore died as a result of blunt force trauma. The toxicology report confirmed that Thompson had methamphetamine, amphetamine, THC, hydroxy-THC, and THCA in his blood when he was treated at the hospital shortly after the crash. Thompson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Indian Country. While awaiting sentencing, court records show Thompson tested positive for marijuana eight times, for amphetamines seven times, and failed to appear for required drug tests. Recently, Thompson was sentenced to 64 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
