Ohio man who survived parade accident wins lottery
FREMONT, Ohio (WKRC) — An Ohio man who said he was lucky to survive an accident during a Fourth of July parade years ago is celebrating after his luck also earned him a $500,000 lottery win. According to a press release from the Ohio Lottery , Fremont resident Duane purchased a scratch-off ticket after work one day. He took the ticket home to scratch off and was stunned when the big prize was revealed. "I looked at it for a long time. At first, I thought something was wrong," Duane told lottery officials. Duane said he and his then-18-month-old daughter were among five people hurt in a Fourth of July parade in 2017 in Fremont when an antique tow truck collided with two tractors. After the accident, Duane suffered several heart attacks and lost his job. He said while his family struggled financially, he was thankful he and his daughter survived the crash. After taxes, Duane will receive around $366,000. He said that so many people have helped him throughout the years, and he's looking to return the favor. He's also planning on buying a new vehicle, taking a family vacation and investing the rest.
