OAG reveals identity of officer in deadly crash in Columbia

The Attorney General's Office has identified the police officer involved in a fatal collision in Howard County on January 17. Officer Brian Maurantonio, a four-year veteran of the Howard County Police Department, was driving an unmarked department vehicle when he tried to perform a traffic stop at around 2 a.m. Allegedly, the vehicle was traveling over the speed limit. The car fled and subsequently crashed on the eastbound ramp towards Broken Land Parkway. Tragically, the juvenile female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to privacy laws for minors, officials did not disclose the girl's identity.
