NYDOT Reports Fatal Accident Closes Hutchinson River Parkway in Pelham
Early on Sunday, Dec. 7, the New York State Department of Transportation reported that two deadly accidents occurred within minutes of each other, leading to the closure of the Hutchinson River Parkway and Cross County Parkway. The first crash occurred on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway near Exit 6B in Pelham around 4:40 a.m. The lanes were shut down for an investigation after a fatal accident. Shortly after, at 4:58 a.m., another fatal crash was reported on the Cross County Parkway eastbound ramp to Exit 10 in Mount Vernon. Both closures were still in place as of 7 a.m. as emergency workers continued their efforts. Authorities have not disclosed details about the victims or causes of the crashes, and investigations are ongoing.
