Norwalk man who died in VT accident remembered for love of sports, outdoors, obituary says

NORWALK — Norwalk resident and University of Vermont alumnus Charles Erdmann, 28, died from injuries suffered in an accident involving a vehicle March 1 in Stratton, Vt., according to his obituary. Winhall (Vt.) Police Department responded to the accident but couldn't confirm the details of his death when reached on Saturday night. According to his obituary, Erdmann was a Connecticut native and avid lover of sports, being a former member of the University of Vermont men's lacrosse team and having participated in athletics at New Canaan Country School, Windward School and the Berkshire School. His obituary says his coaches and teammates admired his skill, competitive spirit and willingness to lead. Following graduation, Erdmann spent four years working in New York City with the investment firm Merril Lynch, then worked for his father's own wealth management company, the Erdmann Group, in Greenwich in Feburary of this year, according to his obituary. Erdmann was known for his love of the outdoors – actively taking an interest in fishing, hunting and skiing, his obituary says. Erdmann loved to go on trips to the mountains and went on several offshore fishing excursions into Long Island Sound, his obituary says, with his adventurous spirit earning him no shortage of close friends. A celebration of his life is scheduled for March 12 at 5 p.m. at the Maritime Aquarium, 10 North Water St., in Norwalk, his obituary says.
