Northern Colorado ice rink shut down following fatal collision involving ice resurfacer
The Edora Pool Ice Center in Northern Colorado has announced a temporary closure of two days following a tragic incident involving an employee driving an ice resurfacing machine. Sadly, the driver lost their life in a collision with a partially open overhead door while backing up on Tuesday. The City of Fort Collins revealed that the employee, who remains unnamed, was taken to a nearby hospital but unfortunately did not survive. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed in the accident. City Manager Kelly DiMartino expressed sorrow over the incident and assured a thorough review of the circumstances, while also mentioning plans to reassess safety policies and practices moving forward. The ice rink will remain closed until the end of business on Thursday for staff support and to investigate the incident, emphasizing the prioritization of safety for all involved.
