North Austin crash leads to lane closures, one person hurt
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Two crashes in north Austin on Sunday morning resulted in an Austin Police officer being sent to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, according to APD. Lanes are expected to be closed for several hours. Law enforcement said the first crash, located at I-35 and Parmer Lane, was the result of a large truck hitting a concrete barrier that caused it to move into the lanes of traffic. Shortly after, it would cause the crash at I-35 and Howard Lane. At this time, both I-35 at Parmer Lane and I-35 at Howard Lane are both closed in both directions, according to social media posts from authorities. According to APD, there were no serious injuries, and lanes would reopen after the Texas Department of Transportation cleared the roadway. The call came in just before 5:30 a.m. This is a developing story. Check back with KXAN.com for updates.
