Nixa girl, 12, seriously injured in crash involving semi-truck east of Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A 12-year-old girl and a 77-year-old woman were seriously injured Friday, June 12, in a crash on U.S. 60 east of Springfield. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, both vehicles were traveling westbound on U.S. 60 when the crash happened at 12:37 p.m. The report states the 2018 Ford Edge, driven by the 77-year-old woman, crossed into the path of a 1998 Kenworth W900 driven by a 44-year-old man from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Kenworth then struck the driver’s side of the Ford Edge.  The woman and the 12-year-old passenger, both from Nixa, were taken to Cox South Hospital with serious injuries, according to MSHP. Both were wearing seat belts. The Ford Edge was totaled, and the Kenworth had minor damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
