Nevada woman dies in fatal boat crash; alcohol a factor

(FOX40.COM) — A Nevada woman is dead after two boats collided in a Northern California lake, and officials say alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. On Saturday, at about 11:21 a.m., Plumas County dispatchers received an emergency text reporting a boat crash in Frenchman Lake near the boat launch. A preliminary investigation showed that the collision involved a "personal watercraft" and a recreational boat, according to the Plumas County Sheriff's Office. When first responders arrived, they attempted to save the woman, who had been operating the personal watercraft. However, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was identified as Sandra Ann Skender, a 47-year-old from Reno. Deputies are still investigating the death, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.
