NB Highway 99 to WB Highway 58 transition reopens after hours-long closure due to crash

A 38-year-old woman died after a crash on the northbound Highway 99 to westbound Highway 58 transition Monday morning. The Bakersfield Police Department said on July 27th, 2026, at around 9:56 a.m., officers were called to the Westside Parkway near the Highway 99 interchange regarding a crash. When officers arrived, they found a gray Toyota Corolla disabled in the westbound lanes. Bakersfield police said the preliminary investigation found that the Toyota was traveling westbound on the Westside Parkway when it abruptly veered off the roadway and struck multiple fixed objects. Police said the driver and sole occupant sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified the driver killed as 38-year-old Jacqueline Santiago of Lamont. The crash caused several an hours-long closure. This is an ongoing investigation.
