Multiple injuries in bus crash that shut down Lee County intersection

A crash involving a bus has blocked an intersection near Alva on Tuesday morning.According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, units responded to a crash involving a worker bus at the intersection of Charleston Park Drive and Palm Beach Boulevard just after 6 a.m.The crash shut down the intersection for a period, but all lanes have since reopened. The Florida Highway Patrol said that the bus was traveling north on First Street just south of SR-80. A pickup truck was traveling east on SR-80, west of First Street, in the inside lane.The bus then attempted to turn left onto SR-80 and came to a stop within the paved median, with the rear part of the bus extending into the eastbound travel lane, FHP said.The pickup truck then crashed into the rear part of the bus, FHP said. Seven people on board the bus were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
