Multi-car crash in Bennington sends three to hospital; one vehicle found on its roof
A multi-car crash from Saturday is under investigation in Bennington. Bennington Police were notified of the crash shortly after 5 p.m. Officers responded to the intersection of Park Street and Spring Street; there they found a multi-vehicle motor vehicle crash with one vehicle on its roof. Responding officers learned a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling northbound on Park Street when it crashed into three parked vehicles. It was later determined that the vehicle on its roof was one of the parked vehicles. Officers found three occupants in the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. As officers began providing medical care to the operator, a 38-year-old male, they discovered he had sustained a gunshot wound. The Bennington Rescue and Bennington Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and assisted with emergency medical treatment. The operator was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and eventually transferred to Albany Medical Center for a life-threatening injury. The two additional occupants of the Subaru were transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Bennington Police determined there were four occupants in the Subaru Crosstrek, but one left on foot before police arrived; police are looking to speak with this individual. A person of interest was identified and taken into custody in connection with the incident. There is no threat to the community at this time. Pownal Rescue, Arlington Rescue, and the Vermont State Police also assisted at the scene.
