Mourning of Deer Creek High School students tragic deaths

The Logan County and Deer Creek communities awoke with heavy hearts on Tuesday after a tragic car accident involving four Deer Creek students. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that four teenage girls were in a pickup truck traveling westbound on Charter Oak Road on Monday night. The truck veered off the road, struck a bridge guardrail, and landed in a creek bed. Two of the teens lost their lives, one sustained critical injuries, and one had minor injuries, all of whom were not wearing seatbelts according to the crash report. The OHP stated that the driver was 17 years old, two passengers were 16, and one passenger was 14, and due to their age, their names will not be disclosed. Stephanie DeMoor, who knew the victims well, described them as kind and innocent, sharing how they often went on road trips together. The Deer Creek School District issued a statement regarding the heartbreaking incident, while the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
