Mount Vernon man dies in fatal head-on crash on Highway 39
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — A Mount Vernon man dies in a head-on collision. It happened Friday morning shortly before 2:00am on Highway 39 in Lawrence County, just south of Miller. A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 36-year-old's SUV was heading southbound and crossed the center line. Troopers say it hit a sedan driven by a 32-year-old Greenfield woman going the other direction. She was taken to Mercy Springfield with serious injuries. The man died at the scene. It's the 54th fatality of the year for the Highway Patrol's Troop D.
