Motorcyclist killed in midnight crash on Route 53 in Clearfield County
A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning in Clearfield County, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers said the crash occurred around midnight on state Route 53, also known as Morrisdale Allport Highway, south of Trolley Street in Morris Township. According to investigators, the rider was traveling northbound on a 2021 Harley-Davidson Street Glide while negotiating a left-hand curve when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle failed to follow the curve and left the roadway. Police said the motorcycle continued straight off the road and struck a tree head-on. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle. State police reported the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim's identity. The crash remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police in Clearfield.
