Motorcyclist killed in Marion County crash with car
PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) -- A man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Marion County Monday evening. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at the intersection of State Route 4 and White Oaks Road in Pleasant Township at approximately 6:08 p.m. A 16-year-old juvenile was driving a 2011 Kia Forte north on SR-4 when he failed to yield to a 2017 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse motorcycle while the Kia was trying to make a left-hand turn onto White Oaks Road. The motorcycle, which was traveling south on SR-4, hit the Kia and its driver was thrown from the bike, the highway patrol said. The motorcyclist, Shawn R. Woolum, 54, of Marion, was taken to Marion General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police said Woolum was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The 16-year-old was hospitalized for minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation. There is no word on if any charges will be filed against the Kia's driver.
