HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A motorcyclist was involved in a chase before a deadly crash in Mission over the weekend, according to a spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety. As ValleyCentral previously reported, the crash involved two motorcycles and occurred at 3:45 a.m. Sunday on the 900 block of the expressway. According to DPS, a trooper attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle on Business 83 and Bensen Rd. "For unknown reasons, the rider evaded the trooper," the DPS spokesperson said. "At some point, the trooper disengaged, but the rider continued traveling at a high speed." The rider then crashed into another motorcycle on Frontage Road near Holland Avenue, DPS said. The motorcyclist who was crashed into was pronounced dead. The suspect motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, DPS said.
