Motorcyclist dies in crash on Academy
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A motorcyclist was killed after reportedly failing to negotiate a curve in the road on North Academy Boulevard. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded shortly before 8:45 p.m. on Friday, July 10 to a report of a crash in the 1800 block of North Academy Boulevard, just south of the intersection with Constitution Avenue. CSPD said the preliminary crash investigation revealed a motorcyclist was heading north on Academy when they failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The motorcycle left the east side of the road and crashed. CSPD said the motorcyclist was declared dead on scene. CSPD said Academy Boulevard would be closed at La Salle Street for several hours for the crash investigation. Speed is being investigated as a possible factor.
