Motorcyclist dies after Tunnel Road crash in Asheville

A motorcyclist is dead, and an investigation is underway after a July 3 crash on Tunnel Road in Asheville. The Asheville Police Department said officers were called to the 200 block of Tunnel Road just after 9 p.m. for a crash “with serious injuries.” 20-YEAR-OLD MOTORCYCLIST KILLED IN SOUTH ASHEVILLE CRASH, INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY Police said an initial investigation found that a Yamaha motorcycle operated by Justin Tyler Evans was traveling west on Tunnel Road “at a high rate of speed and making sudden lane changes” when it crashed into a 2020 Dodge Journey that was making a left turn onto Buckstone Place. The crash caused Evans and his passenger to be ejected, resulting in critical injuries. Police said both were taken to Mission Hospital, where Evans later died from his injuries. Police said a 20-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash at the intersection of Hendersonville Road and Turtle Creek Drive on July 1 . The investigation into the July 3 crash is active and ongoing.
