Motorcyclist dead after crash on I-80 in North Sacramento, roads impacted

(FOX40.COM) — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash early Tuesday morning in North Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP said a motorcyclist was splitting lanes in stop-and-go traffic just before 7:40 a.m. on eastbound Interstate-80, just east of Norwood Avenue. According to officers, the traffic had stopped, but the motorcyclist was unable to stop, resulting in the motorcycle rear-ending a car. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown into the road before being hit by oncoming traffic. CHP said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The #2, #3 and #4 lanes are currently blocked. All lanes are expected to reopen around 9:15 a.m. CHP is currently waiting for the Sacramento County Coroner's Office to arrive and investigate.
