Motorcyclist dead after crash on I-640 in Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An investigation is underway after a crash on I-640 East left a motorcyclist dead Thursday night, Knoxville Police said. According to KPD, officers responded to the scene of the crash around 10:30 p.m. The motorcycle driver was taken to UT Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving there. Based on their investigation, Knoxville Police said it appears that the motorcycle swiped another vehicle before colliding with the barrier wall. The reason for the crash is still under investigation. KPD added that the other vehicle involved sustained minor damage and the occupants were uninjured. The investigation into the crash, which is being led by KPD's crash reconstruction personnel, is ongoing.
