Fireworks show cut short after accident in Wilson County

WILSON, N.C. — A fireworks show at the Wilson County Fair came to an unexpected end Saturday night after an accident during the display left one person injured. In a social media post, officials said the accident happened while the fireworks were being launched. For safety reasons, the remaining fireworks were canceled. A witness, Tyler Silcott, shared video with News 12 that appears to show fireworks exploding unusually close to the ground. Several people also commented on the fair's Facebook post, saying they noticed fireworks detonating lower than expected during the show. Fair officials did not say what caused the accident or provide an update on the injured person's condition. They asked the community to keep the individual in their thoughts and prayers. No additional information has been released.
