Motorcycle, school bus involved in serious crash, police say | Road shut down

A school bus and motorcycle were involved in a serious crash Monday morning in Cumberland County, according to East Pennsboro Township Police. Video above: Headlines from WGAL News 8 Today.Crews were called to the crash at the intersection of Wertzville Road/Route 944 and East Penn Drive around 7:20 a.m. Police said a 2025 Yamaha motorcycle and a school-contracted Rohrer Bus school bus collided."Only the driver and their child were inside the bus, and neither were injured. The bus sustained minor damage," police said in a statement. "The 18-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center by the East Pennsboro Ambulance Service."A preliminary investigation indicated that the bus was traveling westbound and was making a left turn onto East Penn Drive at the time of the crash, police said.The motorcycle was traveling east and collided with the rear portion of the school bus, according to investigators.The crash was under investigation by East Pennsboro Township Police and Pennsylvania State Police.According to PennDOT, both directions of Wertzville Road/Route 944 are closed between Southmont Drive and Center Street.
