Moped rider critically hurt in Northeast Portland crash

A moped rider suffered critical injuries following a crash on the ramp from eastbound Columbia Boulevard to southbound 33rd Avenue in Northeast Portland. First responders were called out to the crash just after 2 p.m. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined; however, preliminary information indicates the incident was a single-vehicle crash in which the rider struck a guardrail, police said. That person has not been identified. Northeast 33rd Avenue is closed in both directions south of Northeast Columbia Boulevard while crews investigate. There is no estimated time for when the road will be reopened. Northeast Columbia Boulevard remains open to traffic.
